Members of the Raglan Chamber of Commerce held another of their after five gatherings on Wednesday. First they started at the Raglan Book & Gift Centre where Paul and Joan Masters told about their experience in purchasing a retail business, then progressively finding out what worked and what didn’t. Paul said he likes the Raglan lifestyle of caring for people in the community and obtaining items on request for residents. They have a huge range of items in stock and on many of these are priced to match competition in Hamilton. Trade increases in summer by100% when tourists are in town. Aucklanders in particular appreciate being able to get speciality magazines that are not stocked in Auckland shopping malls. From surfing through macrame to tattooing, Paul and Joan have a huge range of magazines in stock.
Next it was off to the Raglan Information Centre where Manager, Anthea Jackson described the operations of the Centre and explained how many international tourists head straight from Auckland Airport to Raglan. Then the Chamber group headed back to Raglan Sunset Motel where Jamie Bruce covered his Envision Architectural business.
