Aaron stumbles with turduckenqua challenge

130429-turduckenquaA tricky turduckenqua challenge saw Raglan man Aaron Brunet end up in the bottom three for the first time in MasterChef New Zealand. While judge Josh Emmett described Aaron’s turduckenqua – a quail in a chicken in a duck in a turkey – as “technically the best thing you’ve done”, it was the accompanying vegetables and sauce that let Aaron down. The turnips, parsnip and fennel side dish disappointed the judges, with Simon Gault remarking that the sauce tasted like it had been finished off with Vegemite. But Aaron was safe from elimination and will return for another challenge next week.

MasterChef New Zealand continues next Sunday on TV One.
