Raglan man Aaron Brunet was on top form in this week’s MasterChef New Zealand challenge.
Flown to Dolphin Island in Fiji, contestants were given an invention challenge using seafood and fresh Fijian produce. The order of cooking was determined by a crab race, however Aaron’s lazy crab didn’t even make it over the finish line, giving Aaron the disadvantage of cooking first.
Aaron rose to the challenge, impressing judges with his dish titled From Boat To Plate – a selection of coconut and ginger rice, hot salsa, mango salsa and mud crab. Aaron’s overall score saw him ranked among the four top contestants, ensuring him a place next week in the top seven.
MasterChef New Zealand continues next Sunday on TV One.
