Media Release: Written by Chris Harold, WRC, 30 April, 2010 Additional information provided by The Raglan Website.

Raglan Stage - Rally New Zealand

This year’s Rally New Zealand is the 40th in the event’s history. After three years based in Hamilton and a year off the WRC calendar during the period of rotation, Rally New Zealand returns to Auckland for 2010. A new service park in Queens Wharf, on Auckland’s waterfront, brings the rally into the heart of Auckland city. The ceremonial start and finish will also be held waterside, at Viaduct Harbour.

Remote service is used on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Whangarei, Hampton Downs and Raglan respectively, the first time three different locations have been used on three days. The Raglan remote service for Day 3 (Sunday 9th May) is in Wainui Road, between Bow Street and the Bankart Street roundabout from 9.56am.

Day 3 Sunday 9 May – Raglan First Car in action

SS21 Repco Whaanga Coast 2 11:24am

Ceremonial Finish Viaduct Harbour, Auckland City 3:00pm

The move to remote service, within the regulations, allows the event to use classic stages that were not only a feature of rallies past, but also considered to be some of the best in the world. For the first time since 1990 a super special stage will be run in the Auckland Domain, and New Zealand’s newest motor racing circuit, Hampton Downs, will be used to host the running of two tarmac super special stages. This is also a first for the event.

Rally New Zealand is the fifth round of the FIA World Rally Championship and the fourth round of the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship, FIA Super 2000 World Rally Championship and the FIA WRC Cup for Teams. It is also a round of the New Zealand Rally Championship.
