Raglan bus champion, John Lawson, has asked WRC’s Future Proof Public Transport Subcommittee to make sure that when it looks at page 128 of the agenda on Friday, it should congratulate Waipā on having Waikato’s first full size e-buses (see photo) and an almost hourly service to complement that of Huntly please.
He has also pointed out the conundrum where Cambridge now has 20 buses a day, yet they have fewer passengers (20,300) than Raglan (22,800) has on its 4 buses. John has asked the subcommittee to consider why and what does Raglan needs to do to get more and better buses please? He also wants to know if this information will be included in the update to Raglan Community Board?
InterCity is cutting its 7.30 departure from Wellington from next week, which means that tourists and others from the south will no longer be able to travel by carbon friendly public transport to Raglan in a day, except on the 3 days a week when the Northern Explorer runs from Wellington. Perhaps one of the first improvements to the Raglan bus could provide a connection from the only remaining day bus from Wellington, which reaches Hamilton at 6.30.
