On the 28th March, Ragan Ramblers will be having walks around Upper Wainui, bush, beach plus a pot-luck lunch planning meeting. This is opportunity to explore the Bryant reserves and enjoy the views from them. As the sign in the photo shows, Bryant Reserve was once a Lands and Survey Reserve. Then share lunch and plan.
Details are: Start from upper wainui road cars can stay in the Cederman drive ( 52 upper wainui rd) or on the driveway to the track which is only a few doors down. Down to Beach from upper wainui takes about 30 minutes. When on beach walk about 20 minutes to 2nd walkway from beach up to farm track ( the first being the surf club access) wainui Farm Track is about 1.9km. Sign says “ no dogs in farm ) those with dogs may want to take direct route along the beach. —Follow yellow signs to go over the farm and then through the pines, walking back down to beach. Walk along beach, walk over footbridge and then walk to wharf takes about 30 minutes. Total time for total walk will be about 3 hours. Take morning tea/ lunch if desired or may wish to have lunch in wharf cafe.
Some people can leave car in James st and those people then go with others cars to upper wainui . Than at end people with car in James st can take people to get their cars from upper wainui . This should work as distances are not long.
There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Most walks start at 9am from the James St/ Wallis St corner near Catholic church.
