Whāingaroa may yet reach 90% fully vaccinated

While most parts of New Zealand are now focussing on Covid boosters and vaccinating children, Whāingaroa Raglan has still to reach the milestone of 90% fully vaccinated. At times it has seemed that this would never be achieved, but new data released by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday 2nd February indicates that it may be possible. For first dots, Raglan and Around Raglan is on 89%. Te Akau is over 95%. This means that on average, Whāingaroa has now reached 90% of the population having had the first vaccination. So it now seems possible that the milestone of 90% fully vaccinated will be achieved. As of 2nd February, 85% were fully vaccinated, so only 5% to go. Vaccinations are now available at Raglan Pharmacy and Raglan Medical.

To achieve the 90% vaccination milestone, Whāingaroa needs another 324 people to have their second dose. Overall the Waikato DHB region is at First doses (95%); second doses (93%). There were 12 new cases reported in the Waikato on the 2nd February. Case investigations are underway to determine a source of exposure for a number of unlinked cases.

There are no Covid cases in Raglan.
