Police ask for information for Raglan homicide investigation

Waikato Police are now treating the case of a man found in Wainui Road, Raglan on Wednesday 26 January as a homicide.

Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley said that Police are now able to release the name of the man who died. He was Jade Pui, also known as Jade Pui-Rakena, aged 42, of Auckland. Waikato Police extend their condolences to Mr Pui’s whānau at this difficult time. 

Mr Pui was staying in Raglan and was located deceased in his vehicle by local residents on Wednesday evening. 
Police are appealing for information on Mr Pui’s last movements on Wainui Road between Raglan and Manu Bay boat ramp from 5pm onwards on Tuesday 25 January. If you were driving the road during this time and have dashcam footage, please make contact.

Police are also seeking any sightings of a white Mitsubishi Legnum
(pictured, not actual vehicle) or any other suspicious vehicles
or motorbikes seen in the area by residence over that time.

“Thank you Raglan residents that have come forward with information that has assisted the enquiry. While we understand that these incidents can be stressful, please be reassured that we will hold any offenders to account,” says Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley.
 
Local residents will notice an increase in Police presence in the town as they work on the enquiry to establish the circumstances that lead to Mr Pui’s death.
 
Police want to encourage anyone who can provide information that might assist to come forward and speak with us.
