Whāingaroa moves to Orange, short of 90% milestone by 775 fully vaxxed

Raglan moving slowly towards 90% for 1st vaccination

On Friday 1st December, Whāingaroa on 78% fully vaxxed moves to Orange on the Covid Protection Framework, well below the Govt. milestone of 90%. This is well below the rest of the Waikato District on 82% and Hamilton on 87%.

After good progress with vaccinations over the last week it is It is now ahead of Tairawhiti, the lowest region, on 76%.

Vaccination numbers released today (1/12) show that Whāingaroa has made progress showing an uptake of Covid vaccination with Raglan on 87% first dose, Around Raglan on 84% first dose and Te Akau higher on 89%. Second dose vaccinations are even lower with Raglan on 78% 2nd dose, Around Raglan on 76% 2nd dose and Te Akau on 82%.

This progress means we need another 244 from Whāingaroa (Raglan, Around Raglan and Te Akau) to have their first dot to start on the way so the target of 90% is exceeded. For the 2nd dot another 775 people need to have one to get to 90%.

There were 14 cases confirmed in the Waikato overnight, with seven in Te Kūiti, two in Huntly, two in Ōtorohanga, one in Hamilton, one in Ngāruawāhia, and one location under investigation. There are no active cases In Raglan.

Six cases have been linked to previous cases and the remainder are under investigation today.

Two cases which remained under investigation yesterday have now been confirmed as Te Anga.

The total number of cases is now 461 (154 active and 307 recovered). There are 42 active cases remaining under investigation.

There are two COVID-19 positive patients in Waikato Hospital ICU. In the Waikato, public health staff are now supporting 119 cases to isolate at home.
