Oct 13: Covid lockdown decision day for Raglanites

Wednesday 13th October has Raglanites waiting on news on whether Raglan moves from Level 3 lockdown to a Level 2 Alert Level.

The Government has said, “Waikato will remain at Alert Level 3 until 11:59pm on Thursday 14 October 2021. Cabinet will review these settings on Wednesday 13 October.”

This morning on Newstalk ZB’s AM Show, Covid Minister Chris Hipkins said, “Things were looking encouraging for an alert level move in Waikato, and possibly also in Northland.”

There were zero Covid cases in the Waikato on Monday and three announced on Tuesday 12th.  All of Tuesday’s three are contacts of the existing group of people/ family and were self isolating.  They were not active in the community. The last public casual contact in Raglan was a single one on Thursday 9th and there have been no close contacts in Raglan since Sunday 3rd. The situation is the same in Hamilton with the last close contact in the community on 30th Sept.

The Waikato region now has a total of 34 cases, which are all linked. 17 of these cases are Raglanites now in quarantine.

Pop-up testing and vaccinations continue to operate in Raglan today, Wednesday with testing at the Raglan Area School and vaccinations now at the Raglan rugby grounds car park. People can also get tested on appointment at Raglan Medical which is a designated GP practices.

It is important that our testing facilities are available for those priority individuals who meet the criteria for seeking a test at this time. This allows us to rapidly investigate whether there has been any community spread.

Anyone who has cold or flu-like symptoms, is following guidance relating to a location of interest or has been directed by Healthline or a GP should seek a test immediately.

Otherwise, people should call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 or their GP for guidance before seeking a test.

It is free to get a COVID-19 test, wherever you go.
