WEL takes safe approach to restoring power

Power outage in Raglan as at 3pm Sat 8th

High winds have caused a number of power outages in Raglan, Ngaruawahia and Bruntwood Road areas.
Approximately 400 properties were without power on the morning of Saturday 8th June. In Raglan by mid-afternoon this had been reduced to 13 properties in Te Hutewai Road where trees were across the road.

WEL Services, GM, Mat O’Neill says field crews will work through the day to restore power but safety is the number one priority.

“We need to make sure work sites are safe particularly for our staff working in high winds. As such the teams are now double manning for their safety.”

Members of the public are asked to stay clear of power lines if they see any down, not to try and remove vegetation or items that may have been caught in lines and to call WEL 0800 800 935.
