Ngaruawhia warns about Soundsplash

Based on past experience all motorists using Wainui Road should expect delays while the Festival is on, especially on Friday and Sunday.  Update: It has started already: TRAFFIC IS BACKED UP ALONG WAINUI ROAD FROM BOW STREET, RAGLAN as at 9am Friday 18th.

The stone chip scatterers at NZTA / Safer Roads Alliance have announced a special chip spreading on SH 23 just in time for the Soundsplash traffic. Speed restrictions will be in place till midday Saturday 19th between Hamilton and Whatawhata (Howden Road to Robertson Road).

In a terse tweet, Ngaruawahia based Waikato District Council has issued a warning about the Soundsplash festival being held in Raglan’s Wainui Reserve Raglan on 18, 19, 20 January.

Soundsplash will be held in Raglan on 18, 19, 20 January. There’ll be about 8000 people coming into Raglan for this great event so parking will be very limited. Please expect it to be difficult to find a park at Ngarunui beach in particular, as there is no overflow parking available. The road off to the right at the top of the hill will also be closed.
You’ll find more information about the festival at http://soundsplash.co.nz/

The Council has not provided any information about traffic conditions or arrangements for residents who live on Wainui Road past the entry to the Wainui Reserve.
