Design the new Waikato District library card

Would you like to see your artwork on Waikato District library cards? Waikato District Libraries say they want you to design our new library cards as part of our Matariki celebrations.

The Waikato District Libraries Matariki competition will open on Monday 14th May and this year people can design a library card or write a poem. The age categories are 5-9 years old, 10-15 years old and 16 years and over. People will need to submit their library card design or poem by 15 June.

To enter pick up an entry form at Raglan Library or any Waikato District Council library or office – Huntly, Meremere, Ngaruawahia, Raglan, Te Kauwhata, Tuakau – from 15 May, or download a form from the Waikato District Council website: www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz/matariki

“The winning designs will be used as our new library cards while the winning poems will be displayed in our libraries and offices,” says Waikato District Council’s Customer Delivery Manager Angela Parquist.

“We love promoting our communities and this is an opportunity to showcase their talent. It’s also a great way to celebrate Matariki, which is a very special time of year. It was fantastic to see 626 entries last year. We’re hoping to get even more than that this year and think that the design category will be very popular.”
