On the 5th July, Raglan Ramblers head over the divy. The ‘Tron’ was a name coined in the 1990s for Hamilton. The name came out of a competition run by UFM in 1998. The radio station launched a petition on the 6/7/1999 for it’s slogan “Hamiltron – city of the future” to replace the “Hamilton – where it’s happening”, the one that Hamilton City Council were using.
A few weeks ago Ramblers roamed the walkways of north Hamilton. This week it’s the south, where, as well as the riverside walks, there are many paths through Hamilton Gardens and through the gullies of the streams which drain the former peat bogs. Please bring your lunch.
Walks usually start 9am, Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station). There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook
Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
