Okete farmers Shayney and Ross Wallis have been featured in a new Fonterra video and TV commercial. The video shows the link from their Okete farm across the oceans to customers buying Anchor products in Sri Lanka. Ross is a descendant of the Rev James Wallis – the missionary who was the first European to settle in the Raglan district in the 1830s.
The video covers Shayney and Ross Wallis’s journey to see Anchor in Sri Lanka. Fonterra say, “Starting at farms like theirs in Raglan, milk goes to the Te Rapa dairy factory, in the Waikato, to be processed into milk powder before heading off by ship to Sri Lanka. Generations have grown up on Anchor milk powder and there’s a subtle flavour profile that comes from Te Rapa that Sri Lankans just love. They consume a staggering 2.4 billion glasses of Anchor milk each year.”
The video also covers how through Fonterra’s Dairy Development Programme the Co-op mentors and support Sri Lankan farmers so they can get the best milk from their own cows, which goes into products Fonterra makes locally such as fresh milk, yoghurt and curd.
