The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Manu Bay, Raglan, on Tuesday 25 April, to retrieve a surfer with a suspected head injury.
The man lost his board while surfing and was body surfing back to shore, when he crashed onto the rocks, sustaining a suspected head injury.
The man was winched from the scene via the NZCT Rescue Winch and was then flown to Waikato Hospital for treatment.
The flight paramedic gave a big thank you to the Raglan Fire Brigade crew for their help saying it was a pleasure to work with them. Adding they did a great job helping extract the patient from the rocks, using good safety and listening skills.
