Poppies blossomed after Easter on the cabbage tree at the corner of Bow and Wi Neera Streets. The yarn bombing was done by members of the Raglan knitting group who have been making the poppies during their Wednesday sessions at Orca restaurant. The red knitted poppies are a street art project to commemorate ANZAC Day on 25th April.
Groups in Port Waikato, Matangi, Tuakau, Pokeno, Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Glen Massey, and Te Kauwhata have also been knitting for the past month so the can yarn bomb a local tree.
