After a successful INDIEGOGO crowdfunding campaign, Raglan-based musician Parabola West is heading toward the release of her next EP. Drawing comparisons to Sarah McLachlan, Adele, and Tori Amos, this songbird’s piano-driven melodies and crystal vocals cut straight to the heart – and fans are eagerly awaiting her new music.

Working with Producer and Sound Engineer Scott Newth at ‘The Porch’ recording studio, Parabola West’s music has evolved throughout the recording process.

“It has been my absolute joy to work with other local talented musicians and engineers. Being able to work with other professionals has allowed my music to become more polished, and has allowed me to grow as an artist”

Originally from East Coast America, Parabola West began writing songs as a teenager. She moved to New Zealand in 2003 and after a 10 year “corporate world” break from music, she has returned to her music roots and launched her solo career as Parabola West in 2013. Her debut EP, “Did You Hear?” was released in March 2014 to great reviews, and the much anticipated follow up was her hit single “Fire” in October 2015.

West’s new EP will be an album of 7 songs, drawing on her influence of pop, folk and electronica, with a bit of a celtic and world influence. With layering sounds that incorporate a range of instrumentation and electronica, her new music moves away from the purely acoustic.

“I know a song is ready when listening to it makes me feel like I did when writing it. I believe that I have achieved something really wonderful with this EP, and I’m thrilled with the new sound!”

For Parabola West, the countdown is on to release date. The next stages include mastering, album art and packaging design, CD replication, marketing & PR, and of course the planning of the live release event and tour.

For those wanting to have a sneak peak of her music, head along to her next performance at the Waikato Show. Parabola West will be found on the main stage on Saturday 8 April at 1.30pm and Sunday 9 April at 2.15pm.
