Workers contemplate what to do next after removing the front wall from Westpac Raglan

The front wall was removed from the Westpac Raglan bank this morning (1st November). A convoy of security guards, CCTV technicians, ATM technicians and commercial fitters arrived in town about 9am this morning to work on the Westpac Raglan front wall. After taking up most parking spaces above the town hall they proceeded to take the front wall off the bank.

It is not known what they are doing. With only one day to go before the bank closes secretive Westpac executives have only told their customers that Westpac Raglan would be ‘changing’ and that they would be placing an ipad somewhere in Raglan.  There was mention that a new ATM would be installed somewhere in Raglan that would allow cash to be banked, but no date was given for this. Customers were told when they asked that they would have to go to Frankton.

Already many Raglanders have moved to a new bank and closed their Westpac as the bank management hasn’t even told customers if the Raglan bank account numbers will keep working. We’ve heard on Bow Street that the bank has already lost many customers. Other organisations and businesses are still working through steps needed to swap banks.

Bank cash counter services will be available from Kiwibank in the Raglan SuperValue. TSB Bank has an arrangement with NZ Post to provide cash counter services at the same location.
