On Thursday 11th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the ranges, west of Hamilton, to retrieve a 43 year old Raglan man who suffered a massive heart attack while out hunting.

The man had to be winched off the hill using Night Vision Goggles and the rescue helicopter’s NZCT-provided rescue hoist. Accompanied on-board the helicopter by his father, he was flown to Waikato Hospital in the care of a Hamilton-based, St John Ambulance rescue winch-qualified Intensive Care Paramedic.
