July 2016: Neighbourhood Support and Police Report

Kia Ora tatou,

This is the latest sharing from Raglan Neighbourhood Support and Raglan Police for public information.

As you will see from the stats below, the Police in Raglan have been kept very busy over the last month. There were 44 plus incidences. Below is a list of incidences for public information sharing.

  • Six family violence
  • Five burglaries (3 urban and 2 rural)
  • Four vehicle crashes
  • One theft ex car (Whale Bay)
  • One disorderly behaviour
  • There were 5 arrests encompassing 8 offences.

For a small town we have a very high rate of incidences needing Police intervention. We can do much better if we would learn to care for ourselves and others in the community. One way of learning how to do this is to set up a Neighbourhood Support Group. It is very easy to do so. Have a chat with your neighbours from 6 to 10 households. Agree on a time and date for a setup meeting and contact me on raglannslists@gmail.com , or by calling the Police station stating you would like to make an appointment giving contact details. I will contact you and confirm a date.

If possible Senior Constable Raewyn McLachlan will join us. The education meeting will only take 30 minutes and you will be given information and a contact number for backup if required. The more groups we have working in the area the more we can assist one another in the times of stress or civil emergencies. So far we have over 60 groups working in urban and rural settings.

160726AttentionConstable Raewyn has shared that one of the main reasons for the four crashes this month was inattention.

Please do take special care out there. Winter brings its own challenges both in our homes and one the roads. There is more bad weather to come for this weekend.
