Community Board goes back to 2pm

At its February 9th meeting the Raglan Community Board decided to move back to a 2pm start time.
The Board says that with some big agenda items on the horizon the board decided to move to an earlier time to allow for robust dialogue and the time they deserve. The Board members hope that the increase in community numbers coming along over the last few meetings will continue.

Prior to 2011, Community Board meeting were held at 2pm. It was then decided to move the meeting time to 3pm to fit in with Cr Baddeley’s other meetings. In 2013, the Board decided to move to a 6pm start time. This seemed a very inconvenient time for many Raglanders still making their way home from work. Community attendance numbers dropped away.

In another move Peter (PJ) Haworth was appointed by the board to fill the position left by Matt Holl resignation. PJ was the third polling member in the byelection held mid last year. The Board says that they are sure the community will be as happy as us with this news. The Board had the options of deciding to appoint someone to the role or leaving the position vacant until the next local body elections later in 2016.

Long time board member Bob MacLeod will move into the Deputy Chair Person role. The Board says they are more than confident he will bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to make the most of the remaining term. Alan Vink continues as Chair of the Board.

The Community Board term ends in August 2016 with just three full meetings remaining. RCB says it will be having public meetings to get community input on summer parking in Raglan and the Raglan bus service. Following the August meeting the election for the next three year term will be held in October.
