Sirens just before 8pm on Thursday 7th alerted Raglanders to a high speed chase of offenders.

A group of teens had been spotted breaking into cars at the end of Riria Kereopa Drive (Ocean Beach Rd). A young couple came back to their car to find it had smashed windows.

Andreas Broering attempted to stop the car by throwing a jar of Raglan Coconut Yoghurt at a tyre on the car.

It was next reported as going out of town up Bow Street. Near the water tower one of the occupants threw a headrest at the Police. Then the car headed east on Main Road with two Police cars in pursuit. After heading on SH 23 through Te Uku, the vehicle turned towards Waingaro on Ohautira Road.

A report from Ngaruawahia said that the car chase ended when the car crashed on the west side of the river by the quarry.

Later in the evening Police confirmed that the occupants of the vehicle were apprehended and charged. Police thanked the town for their support. The vehicle used by the offenders was a stolen one. An unconfirmed report said the offenders were locked up in Ngaruawahia Police Station cells for the night.

Great to hear that the Police apprehended the offenders and no one was hurt.
