The changing face of Raglan

The pre-Christmas period often brings many changes to the line up of cafes and shops around Raglan. This season there seems to be more changes than usual.

During the week a pop-up containerised kitchen was delivered to the old Bow Street Motors site at 20 Bow Street. The commercial production kitchen has been installed inside the old workshop and Raglan Coconut Yoghurt are busy completing the setup. New owner of the property Andreas Broring says he is still deciding how best to utilise the font section of the property.

Across the road, Glamour has closed up and been replaced by Turkish Cuisine with a sign in the window saying Opening Soon. A menu in the window lists gourmet burgers, kebabs, mezze and more. Further up Bow Street at number 35, chain liquor store Thirsty opened on Sunday 22nd.

Around the corner at 6 Wallis Street, work is underway to set up a new cafe next to Herbal Dispensary. A facade is being constructed to match the existing Herbal Dispensary frontage. Should be a nice place to go especially if there are few table in herb garden out the back.

At the other end of Wallis Street near the wharf, what was formerly the Marlin Cafe, opened on 14th November after extensive remodelling as The Wharf Kitchen & Bar (43 Rose Street).

I’m looking forward to trying out the new cafes over summer.
