The threat of poor weather didn’t put people off for Sunday’s sixth fifth Karioi Classic. Huge fields competed in the running and cycling events held in and around Raglan today.
The runners were first off at 7.30am for the 47km gravel and off-road event. At 9.30am the very large group of Classic XL riders were away on their 57km circuit of Mount Karioi. The final group was the Classic cyclists at 10am with the mass start from Stewart St turning immediately into Wainui Rd then racing towards Mount Karioi on their 43km gravel road circuit.
The races finish at the airfield.
