Update 6 May 2010:
From WDC- “I have checked with our Roading and Projects Team and they tell me the works should be completed by next Friday. The contractor has been given a time extension due to additional works and issues with underground services.”
Comment: Road surface is now laid apart from entrance to Norrie Avenue. Contractors still have to do traffic safety island, road markings, footpaths and grass berms.
Original article:
The Waikato District Council’s ‘urban upgrade’ project in Main Road, Raglan is running late. Council had earlier said that the project would be completed by Schick Construction by the 30th April. But yesterday, contractors were still laying asphaltic concrete and pouring concrete in the rain. Footpaths and some road surfacing still need to be completed along with replacing the pedestrian island and restoration of the grass berms.
It is important that this work is finished before rally drivers and spectators arrive for the WRC this coming Sunday in Raglan. We have asked WDC what the revised completion date for the project is and will publish their response when it is received.
