Raglan now on Level 1 water restrictions

Media Release: Smart Water, 7.01.15

WDC logo colour on blackRaglan and other Waikato residents are being pushed to conserve water as some areas see increased demand.

A move up the water alert scale came into effect today for three areas: Hamilton City, Waikato and Waipa Districts.

The move came later than usual, partly thanks to wet weather before Christmas, Smart Water co-ordinator Sally Fraser said. “We have seen a significant increase in water use in the past week, probably due to residents returning from holiday, industries re-starting and the hot weather. We expect demand to increase from now, which is why we need to move to Water Alert Level 1.”

Under that alert, residents can use hand-held hoses at any time but sprinklers are limited to between 6am-8am and 6pm-8pm.

The three councils would watch water levels in case they needed to move to level two.
