Raglan’s Red Carpet event, the 6th Raglan Arts Film Festival Awards‘ (RAFFA) ceremony was on at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre on Saturday evening, the 20th September. The awards celebrate Raglan Whaingaroa’s own filmmakers and actors. The sell-out red carpet event is a highlight of the Raglan calendar with local and national film makers attending. Guests arrived at the floodlit Old School via the red carpet. About 50 people attended the ceremony narrated by MC for the night, Athene Jensen.
After refreshments and a buffet dinner provided by the Raglan Soccer Mums, the guests moved into the theatre room for a screening of the nominated films. And then it was time for the award winners to be announced.
The RAFFA awards were designed by Chris Meek from Studeo Gallery. There were nine awards including the Grand Phoenix Palm Award. The Phoenix Palm award was created using draft horse shoes and the RAFFA awards have been made from old spanners –tools which represent a huge amount of work in a previous life! Sponsored cash prizes totalling $600 were awarded with the trophies.
