Hello volunteers! It’s been a busy month!

We had a go with our motion-sensor cameras to find out what was disturbing the traps along several of our Upper Wainui tracks. Success! We saw a few cats, but it was clear that there was a possum visiting the trapline almost every night. We’ve placed a possum trap along the Blue Ridge track, and I’ve had a report that it caught a possum right away!

We also caught a mouse cleaning the peanut butter off a rat trap without getting caught. Again, the mouse seemed to be a regular visitor to the trap. We set the trap more sensitively the next week, and we caught it! To set the rat traps, make sure the yellow plate is as low as possible, but not so sensitive that you get your fingers trapped!
