On Sunday 27th, the 5th edition of Raglan’s famous bike race on mainly gravel roads around Mt Karioi will be all go. This year the race course has been extended with 14km, which will increase the gravel part significantly including a tough climb up Waimaori Rd. Also a team option has been added, for those riders not so keen on doing the full 57km. Race is open to mtb, cyclo-x, single speed and road bikes.

Once again, you will be stunned by the magnificent views of our west coast and you will be pleasantly pleased by Raglan’s hospitality.

Race Info
Cost : Individual u16 : $50 (incl dry fit T-shirt)
Individual Open : $65 (incl dry fit T-shirt)
Team option : $55 per person (incl dry fit T-shirt)

You can register online ($1.40 extra charge), or at Cyclery Raglan, 10 Bankart St – Raglan.
There is a registration evening on Thursday 24th at Speight’s Ale House, Hamilton from 5pm to 8pm.
There will be no late registration fee, but registrations after 15 July will not receive a dry fit T-shirt.
Teams will not be able to register on race day, due to safety reasons at the transition areas on Ruapuke Rd.

Race will start at 10am by Raglan Fire Station. Distance is 57km on predominantly gravel roads.
Mind you : this is a challenging ride with a tough finish at Raglan Airfield.
There will be a 30km/h speed limit for traffic on the course to maximise safety for all competitors.
Bike transition zone for teams will be at Tuturimu Rd and there are 2 drink stations along the course.

Karioi Classic Run, 44km Gravel & Off Road
Individuals and Teams

New for 2014 is the Karioi Classic Run also on Sunday . A 44km run over various terrain, incl gravel road, farm track and beach, for individuals and teams of 2 or 3. Runners will basically follow our original course around Mt Karioi, but with a significant twist. After 15km, the course will take runners-up our beautiful maunga right upto the bush line and will then join up again with the coastal road. The last 5km will take you on Ngarunui Beach back to Raglan.
This is no walk in the park. We strongly encourage competitors to sign up for the team option and leave the individual race to experienced trail runners.

Race Info:

Run will start at 7.30am from Raglan Fire Station. Finish is at Raglan airfield.
Transition points are at the corner Ruapuke Rd / Karioi Rd (15km) and at Manu Bay Reserve (37km)
There will be drink stations at Ruapuke Rd – Whaanga Rd – Te Toto Gorge – Manu Bay
Important : Runners need to be able to finish the run within 7 hours. There is a cut-off time of 6 hours at Manu Bay.
