Three Mile Limit – The Radio Hauraki Story
Saturday 17 May, 4.30pm and Sunday 18 May, 8pm.
A true story about the rise of Radio Hauraki in mid-’60s New Zealand. In an effort to break the government monopoly and bring rock n’ roll to the young Kiwi masses, rebel DJs broadcast from international waters outside the three-mile limit on a boat named Tiri.
Stars Matt Whelan (The Most Fun You Can Have Dying) as a 23-year-old journalist/band manager responsible for leading the revolt.
“A brilliant NZ film,” Huffington Post.
* Best International Film at the Washington DC Independent Film Festival.
M – Drug use and offensive language.
The Past
Saturday 17 May 8pm, and Sunday 18 May 4.30pm.
Following a four-year separation, Ahmad (Ali Mosaffa) reunites with his estranged wife (Bérénice Bejo) in Paris to finalize their divorce. During his tense brief stay, Ahmad discovers the conflicting nature of Marie’s relationship with her teenage daughter Lucie (Pauline Burlet). Ahmad’s efforts to improve this relationship soon unveil a secret from their past.
Beautifully written, sensitively directed, and powerfully acted, The Past serves as another compelling testament to director Asghar Farhadi’s gift for finely layered drama.
