The next Board meeting is Tuesday 10 September at 3pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 2.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues, but you can also email the Community Board members.

Items on the agenda include –
- Wharf fire alarm and detector installation “immediate priority”. No additional railing proposed.
- Spatial Plan – met RCB on 26 August.
- Papahua bridge sculptures plaques to be completed about 15 Sept.
- Water Treatment plant upgrade – over-budget plan shows a building about 3 times the present size, but no explanation of need for replacement, or additional fencing.
- Te Hutewai pipe awaiting outcome of Rangitahi plan change.
- Whale Bay sewage “on hold until required numbers are confirmed”.
- Simon Rd footpath to Manukau Rd – funding options to be reported to November RCB.
- Notable tree signs to be put on any unmarked. Consulting arborist not to be same as operational arborist.
- Plunket Rooms garden getting quote to replace bark with concrete.
- Bow St signs brief to be confirmed with RCB Chair.
- James St parking – $82,000 to be spent in 2014 – willing to discuss options with WDC and public.
- Creative Communities www.creative-communities.com/training CBD visit arranged for 10am Tue 12 Nov.
- Soccer & rugby ground turf report recommends Nitrophoska Blue fertiliser, Clopyralid [banned in several US states], Picloram & Triclopyr herbicides.
- Names for new roads – 3 people have suggested names – Edwin Watkins, Petchell, Cresswell, Mataira, Amoore, Stephens (duplicates in Waikato and Auckland have been ruled out, but not Amoore Rd, Mamaku; Stephens Pl, Tauranga). “The Community Board may wish to consult with Tangata Whenua”.
- Coastal Reserves Committee – minutes 12 August. Proposals to use Wainui Reserve pine forest for archery and for mountain bike track. Next meeting 5.30pm 14 Oct in Supper Room.
- Airfield mowing suggestion that mown area be reduced to airstrip and walkways to be investigated.
- Kopua Holiday Park – annual report – no flooding after pump upgrade, sales down 2%, costs up 7%, another $230,000 for multi purpose hall (only minutes mention consultation RCB agreed to do), $5,000 to mark historic sites (on hold until facts approved by iwi), $5,000 to upgrade beach access.
- Town Hall committee AGM was on 9 Aug. Plan air conditioning and considering colour scheme for outside painting in 2014/15.
- Funding RCB has $20,930 to use by next July. Lions want $1,800 for New Year’s Eve Parade.
