Successful start to Friends of Wainui work days

Despite the morning thunder and hail, which had put off several potential volunteers, Friends of Wainui’s first special work-day on Sunday 19 May made a good start in preparing for new tree planting. About 20 gorse bushes were dug out, preparing the way for new trees to be planted. Though the weather forecast was not good, there were only a couple of very brief showers and the soil was relatively easy to work; not too wet or dry.
