Shelves were bare when supplies of bread ran out on the afternoon of Sunday December 30th, at the Raglan SuperValue and other stores in town. The two bakeries also soon sold out of all bread and bread rolls.
The last bread available in Raglan was at the Raglan Bakery at about 4pm. After the last small multi-grain roll left the shelves there was nothing left. We asked Raglan’s Mayor what people should do and she said, “I don’t see what the problem is, let the people eat lamingtons”.
The Raglan bakeries have been busy over night and more bread will be available on Monday 31st, but you’d better be early with such a large crowd in town and public holidays coming up for the first two days of the New Year.
