District Council imposes new rate on Raglan

Raglan residents have a new rate to pay.   At yesterday’s meeting of the Waikato District Council, a new rate of $18.20 was approved to pay for, ‘the direct cost of the Raglan Community Board.’   Even through a majority of submissions throughout the Waikato District opposed the new rate, the councillors voted it in.  Every household in the Raglan community will be charged the new rate from 1st July 2012. Raglan Community Board Chair Rodger Gallagher, said he anticipates that ratepayers would now expect the WDC to allow the Raglan Community Board to provide better value for money.

The same council meeting voted to drop the charges for dog registration to $85 or $65 if paid before the first of August.

  1. This ratepayer agrees WDC should take more note of their Community Boards. I also hope lots of submissions will go to corporateplanner@waidc.govt.nz asking for the Raglan ward to include Old Mountain Rd and Cogswell Rd, for the Community Board cover the same area and to have 6 Board members representing the town area and 4 representing the country area.
