Local rising film maker Turanga Kereopa received the Te Puawaitanga Toi Maori Arts Award at the Art Waikato Awards in Hamilton on 5th October. The judges appreciated Turanga’s goal of specializing in documentary film making and using his skills to preserve the history and stories of Raglan Whaingaroa. Great Work Turanga!!!
Also announced at the Awards Evening was an Arts Waikato Scholarship for Lucretia Perkins to allow her to complete her Bachelor of Media Arts and Design & Visual Arts degrees. The Raglan Community Arts Council was also announced as a finalist in the Community Arts Award for the 2011 Raglan Art Trail Guide.
