Say goodbye to the old Kopua Footbridge this week. That’s right, today Sunday and the following 3 days; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday are the last days available to say goodbye to the old Kopua Footbridge.
WDC have declined a request from the Raglan Coastal Reserves Advisory Committee to keep the bridge open till next weekend. Water & Facilities GM, Richard Bax says that unfortunately due to consent time frames Council cannot delay the start of the demolition work even by one day. WDC apologised for this and suggested that if you are unable to attend the opening on Thursday 22nd at 9.30 am then you say your last goodbyes to the old bridge this weekend or one night during the week.
But you may be able to buy a piece of the old bridge as a souvenir. We’ve heard that a local organisation is organising for parts of the bridge to be sold as a fundraiser.
