A massive swell and strong winds have kept surfers out of the water at Manu and Whale Bays for the last few days. Today Wednesday was another out of control day with strong onshores and swell of 3 to 6 metres hitting out of the southwest at 16 second intervals.
Met Service has gale warnings in place for the Raglan Marine area and on the exposed coast. Winds are currently northwest at 35 knots. They are forecast to change to the southwest at 30 knots by Thursday evening. The very rough sea will ease. The southwest swell is forecast to ease. The outlook for following 3 days is: Easing Friday night southwest 20 knots, changing late Sunday southeast 15 knots. Rough sea easing. Heavy southwest swell easing Saturday.
