Most of the roof of the new Raglan Museum is now on allowing the builders to complete the internal work even though it might be damp outside. Museum designer Jamie Bruce selected the colour ironsand for the roof to harmonise with the natural colours of the adjacent Opotoru inlet.
The new Raglan Museum & Information Centre is being built by Livingston Construction for the Waikato District Council at a cost of just under $1 million. It is expected that the building will be completed by 1st August and then the Raglan Museum Society and the Information Centre will set up in the building. Waikato District says the project timeline is on track and on budget.
The Raglan Museum Society has secured funding from the national Te Papa Museum in Wellington for an expert to visit soon to assist with designing the display areas.
